To our Alpha Chi parents,
This fall semester has gone by in a flash! Our chapter has been extremely busy with social events, philanthropic activities, whole-house retreats, and welcoming our newest pledge class to Alpha Chi! This fall we welcomed a pledge class of 49 amazing women to our family, proving that all the time and effort we put into recruitment really paid off! The 2009 pledge class bonded during a retreat to Busch Gardens and had the opportunity to meet older sisters during their pledging period by having weekly buddies. Our house also continues to work closely with the Family Violence Prevention Center of Orange County. This October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we had a speaker educate our chapter about domestic violence, we handed out purple ribbons on campus, collected cell phones to donate, and many chapter members began volunteering their time to babysit children at the FVPC. We also held our annual Trunk Show where venders donated a portion of their proceeds to our philanthropy. Our social calendar has been just as busy! We have had plenty of lazy afternoons, fun themed mixers (including our Big sis/Little sis Mixer!), Parent’s Weekend, Informal, and my personal favorite event, Hayride. Hayride was held in October and consisted of making s'mores over the bonfire, dancing to a band in Farmer Norm’s barn, and jumping on the hayride at the soonest possibility, all while wearing a diverse mixture of camouflage, flannel, and jean apparel. Alpha Chi’s also ventured to Wrightsville, NC for our Whole House Retreat! Members had the opportunity to go shopping and eat lunch together during the day and take a ferry boat ride (dinner and dancing included) at night. Last week we held elections, and I am thrilled about the new members of our 2010 Executive and Non-Executive Boards. Congratulations to you all! The semester is winding down now, all we have left ahead are exams.
Thank you again for your unconditional support throughout this year!
Wishing you all happy holidays and a Happy New Year,
Laura Hedlund
2009 Chapter President
This past semester at Alpha Chi Omega, our members have been extremely accomplished. Our commitment to service, leadership and academics was encouraged by our incredible and supportive 2009 chapter president, Laura Hedlund. Laura dedicated so much of her time to ensure the success of Alpha Chi Omega as a chapter, as a student organization and as a community of women who share and promote the same ideals and goals of excellence. I hope to be able to lead with such enthusiasm and adherence in the coming year. My name is Paige Heskamp and I would like to introduce myself as the 2010 Epsilon Chi Chapter President of Alpha Chi Omega. I am extremely honored to have been elected and am very excited to lead our award-winning chapter. With the help our our wonderful newly elected Executive Board, I plan to continue our reputation of distinction and encourage our members to remain active and engaged in our chapter and surrounding community.
I am so looking forward to next year!
Best,
Paige Heskamp
